Sterility testing

Container-closure integrity and incubation testing for canned, retorted, aseptic and vacuum-packed foods — the proof your seals hold.

Technician inspecting sealed sample containers during sterility testing

What this service covers

Ambient-stable foods live or die by their seals. We incubate, inspect and challenge your packs so a swollen can or blown pouch never reaches a customer.

  • Incubation and inspection of cans, jars, pouches and cartons
  • Container-closure integrity: dye ingress and vacuum checks
  • Thermophilic and mesophilic spoilage organism screens
  • Seamer and process validation for new lines and formats

How sterility testing runs

Patient science for products measured in months, not days.

Step 1

Sample

Statistical sampling across seamer heads, retort baskets and production time.

Step 2

Incubate

Controlled incubation at mesophilic and thermophilic temperatures per protocol.

Step 3

Inspect

Seal examination, dye-ingress and vacuum testing on every suspect unit.

Step 4

Release

Sterility certificate with incubation data, ready for buyers and auditors.

Common questions

How many units do you need?

Depends on lot size and standard — typically 30–60 units covering all seamer heads and retort positions. We confirm the plan before you ship.

Can you validate a new packaging format?

Yes. Format changes, new seal materials and new retort profiles all get a full validation protocol with acceptance criteria agreed upfront.

What if a unit fails?

We isolate the failure pattern — seamer head, time window, position — and retest a focused sample so production restarts fast.
