Pathogen identification for foods

Targeted screening for Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and STEC E. coli — the three organisms behind most food recalls. Rapid PCR prescreens with classical confirmation.

What this service covers

We screen ingredients, in-process samples and finished product using validated rapid methods, then confirm every presumptive positive with reference culture — so a positive is never a false alarm and a negative stands up in an audit.

  • Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes and STEC panels
  • Environmental swabs for drains, slicers and packing lines
  • Certified report with lot traceability and method references
  • Corrective-action call with a scientist on any positive

How a screening runs

From sample drop-off to signed report in four clear steps.

Step 1

Sample

Use our prepaid kit or deliver fresh samples chilled to the lab with a chain-of-custody form.

Step 2

Enrich

Overnight enrichment grows trace organisms to detectable levels — the step rapid kits skip.

Step 3

Screen

PCR prescreen within 24 hours; presumptive positives go straight to reference confirmation.

Step 4

Report

Signed certificate plus a plain-language summary and next steps within 72 hours.

Common questions

How much sample do you need?

Typically 5 × 25 g units per lot for finished product, plus label and lot information. Environmental swabs use our pre-moistened kits.

What happens on a positive result?

We call you the same day, confirm with reference culture, and walk through hold, retest and root-cause options before anything ships.

Do retailers accept your reports?

Yes — methods follow FDA BAM and ISO 6579/11290 references, and reports carry lot traceability auditors ask for.
